The Extreme 40 is a class of sailing catamaran created by TornadoSport and designed by Yves Loday.The boats are 40 feet long and are constructed out of carbon fibre.They have a top speed of about 40 knots (74 km/h; 46 mph) and can sail at about 35 knots (65 km/h; 40 mph) in 20–25 knots of wind [1] The first extreme 40 was launched in 2005.

Lagoon boats smaller than 50 ft (15 m) are built at Belleville-sur-Vie and launched at Les Sables-d'Olonne in Vendée. Boats over 50 feet long are built at the CNB shipyard in Bordeaux. The design was built by the Lagoon catamaran division of Jeanneau in France and was the smallest catamaran in their product line. The division was later sold to Construction Navale Bordeaux (CNB) which became part of Groupe Beneteau.
