Dandaawa was born on February 17, 1983. He hails from Karaga, a town in the Northern Region of Ghana. [1] He entered Islamic University College, Accra and obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Banking and Finance in 2009. [1] He also attended Mouncrest University College, Kanda-Accra and obtained a bachelor of law degree. [1]

He was elected on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and won a majority with 27946 beating the NEC candidate with 3989 more votes [2] votes to become the MP. He was also the incumbent MP during the 2016 parliamentary elections of Ghana.
