Cloud physics is the study of the physical processes that lead to the formation, growth and precipitation of atmospheric clouds. These aerosols are found in the troposphere, stratosphere, and mesosphere, which collectively make up the greatest part of the homosphere.
Some interstellar clouds are cold and tend to give out electromagnetic radiation of large wavelengths. A map of the abundance of these molecules can be made, enabling an understanding of the varying composition of the clouds. In hot clouds, there are often ions of many elements, whose spectra can be seen in visible and ultraviolet light.
One large storage facility for cosmic dust exists at the NASA Houston JSC. Infrared light can penetrate cosmic dust clouds, allowing us to peer into regions of star formation and the centers of galaxies. NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope was the largest infrared space telescope, before the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope.
Intergalactic dust can form intergalactic dust clouds, known since the 1960s to exist around some galaxies. [1] By the 1980s, at least four intergalactic dust clouds had been discovered within several megaparsecs of the Milky Way galaxy, [ 1 ] exemplified by the Okroy Cloud .
The discovery (by chance in 1965) of the cosmic background radiation suggests that the early universe was dominated by a radiation field, a field of extremely high temperature and pressure. [ 1 ] The Sunyaev–Zel'dovich effect shows the phenomena of radiant cosmic background radiation interacting with " electron " clouds distorting the ...
Depending on the type of clouds, they may vanish as the solar eclipse passes over Texas on Monday. Here's why. Why science says clouds could disappear as solar eclipse begins to pass over Texas
The clouds of captured hydrogen and helium gas contracted, spun up, flattened, and deposited gas onto the surface of each giant protoplanet, while solid bodies within that disk accreted into the giant planet's regular moons.
Researchers believe that the clouds were blasted out of stars by supernova explosions. Huge, mysterious clouds ‘could reshape our understanding of how early universe evolved' Skip to main content
