Dale Mabry. Dale Mabry (March 22, 1891 – February 21, 1922) was an American World War I aviator. Mabry, a native of Tallahassee, Florida, was the son of former Florida Supreme Court Justice Milton H. Mabry and Ella Dale Bramlett. [1] He went on to become an airship pilot and captain in the United States Army Air Service.
Mabry's son Dale Mabry (1891–1922) was a World War I aviator who died in the crash of the dirigible Roma; the Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa is named in his honor. [5] Another son, Giddings Eldon Mabry (1877–1968), was a prominent Tampa real estate attorney and developer, and the founder of the law firm Carlton Fields. [6] [7]
Dale Mabry Highway is also one of the last roads in Hillsborough County to include concrete (driving surface) segments (Hillsborough Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard are the other major, non-interstate, arteries that have concrete segments). Originally, the concrete segment was continuous, stretching from MacDill AFB to just south of Hillsborough Ave.
George M.
