This is the first season for the Big 12 Conference with 16 teams after the addition of Arizona , Arizona State , Colorado and Utah , plus the departure of Oklahoma and Texas .
The winner will receive the conference's automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Tournament. Due to a major conference realignment that significantly impacted the Big 12, it will be the first tournament with 16 teams participating.
