The One Room School House Project of Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, includes listings and information on some 880 schools throughout the state and nation. The information, pictures, and stories included in this site have been collected and sent to the project by researchers and historians from across America.
Built in 1802, this historic structure is a one-story, one-room, stone schoolhouse building that has a wood-shingled, pyramidal roof and small terra cotta chimney. It operated as a subscription school from the time of its construction until 1850. It was then used as a farm outbuilding, and, during the 1980s, as an artist's studio.

The South School is a historic one-room schoolhouse at 6 Schoolhouse Rd. in Shutesbury, Massachusetts. It is one of two such schoolhouses remaining in Shutesbury, and is a rare example of a side-gable construction. Its date of construction is uncertain, but is estimated to be about 1830.
