Alpine Valley Ski Area is a ski resort located in Munson Township, Geauga County, in the U.S. state of Ohio, east of Chesterland. It was built in 1965 under the direction of Thomas D. Apthorp, who then continued to operate and manage the resort until 2007. [ 1 ]

The elevation of Mad River Mountain is 1,460 feet (450 m) with a vertical drop of 300 ft (91 m), and it has a ski season that runs from approximately mid-December through mid-March. The resort, which opened in 1962 as Valley Hi Ski Area, [2] is owned and operated by Vail Resorts, who bought the resort from Peak Resorts in 2019. [4]

The two locations, Boston Mills Ski Resort and Brandywine Ski Resort, developed independently in 1963 as competitors. Valley Hi is a village in Logan County, Ohio, United States. The population was 228 at the 2020 census. The village is located nearby U.S. Route 33 and is about an hour northwest of Columbus. The village lies mostly in Jefferson Township, but its southernmost portion extends into Monroe Township.
