CF Industries Holdings, Inc. is an American manufacturer and distributor of agricultural fertilizers, including ammonia, urea, and ammonium nitrate products. The company is based in Northbrook, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, [3] and was founded in 1946 as the Central Farmers Fertilizer Company.
It is claimed to be one of the largest fertilizer facilities in Southeast Asia, [3] and has a production capacity of 1,365,000 tonnes (1,343,000 long tons; 1,505,000 short tons) of urea annually. [4] The facility for BFI started being built in May 2018 and 500 jobs were expected be created when the plant was fully operating. [5]
Because of the shortage of domestic production of urea in meeting the overall domestic demand of urea, [6] the cabinet decided in April 2007 to consider the feasibility of reviving the Fertilizer Corporation of India. In 2008, the government approved revival of all the closed units of the Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation. [5] [7]
Karnafuli Fertiliser Company or KAFCO is a joint venture multinational company located in Chittagong, Bangladesh that produces urea fertiliser from Natural Gas.It is located in Anwara upazila of Chittagong district by the side of the Karnafuli river occupying an area of 100.03 acres. [1]
Chittagong Urea Fertilizer Limited was built in 1987 in Rangadia, Anwara Upazila, Chittagong District, Bangladesh. It was built by the Japanese Toyo Engineering Corporation . The factory has a capacity to produce 1700 tonnes of urea and 1000 tonnes of ammonia per day.
In January 2009, Jamuna Fertilizer Company reported production shortages due to inadequate supply of natural gas. It could produce only 1200 metric ton of urea fertilizer against a capacity of 1700 metric ton per day. The company is responsible for supply 20 districts in northern Bangladesh. [4]
