There were a total of 1,217 students enrolled in the East Jasper School District during the 2006–2007 school year. The gender makeup of the district was 50% female and 50% male. The racial makeup of the district was 99.67% African American and 0.33% White. [1] 90.3% of the district's students were eligible to receive free lunch. [2]
In 2011 there were 120 schools. With the closing of Heidelberg High School in 2012, all of the original high schools opened in post World War II Europe are now closed, although many other DoDDS high schools have opened since then. The original six were Berlin, Bremen, Frankfurt, Heidelberg, Munich and Nurnberg.
The school moved to Heidelberg in the summer of 2002, and was renamed the Heidelberg International School (H.I.S.). The official opening of H.I.S. was celebrated on October 2, 2002. Since then, the school enrollment numbers have grown continually.
