San Clemente station is a station in San Clemente, California, served by the Inland Empire–Orange County and Orange County lines of the Metrolink commuter rail system. It opened on March 6, 1995 [ 5 ] as an infill station .
With the exception of the Anaheim Canyon station, the line shares all of its stations with the 91/Perris Valley Line, the Orange County Line, the Riverside Line, or the San Bernardino Line. As of July 2016, eight trains in each direction serve the stations from San Bernardino - Downtown to Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo on weekdays. [ 6 ]
The Metrolink rail service operates eight commuter rail routes throughout Southern California. Metrolink has an agreement with LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency to allow Metrolink monthly pass holders to use Amtrak California trains via the Rail 2 Rail program at no cost within certain corridors.
Inland Empire–Orange County Line service began on October 2, 1995; [7] Riverside was the terminus of that line until the following year when the extension to San Bernardino opened. [8] Amtrak's Southwest Chief began stopping at Riverside in April 2002. [9] Metrolink's 91/Perris Valley Line (then the 91 Line), began operating on May 6, 2002. [10]
