Boruto: Naruto the Movie is a 2015 Japanese animated martial arts fantasy film and the directorial debut of Hiroyuki Yamashita. It is based on Masashi Kishimoto 's manga and anime Naruto , and is the second film to be a part of the canonical Naruto storyline, being a sequel to the manga series.

Boruto blurts out that Chojuro promised to pull back, should the Funato retreat, though Ikada and Araumi are unconvinced. Boruto tries to reason with Ikada, bringing up his dreams, but Ikada rages at Boruto because of Seiren's death, unleashing his powers to control the sea. Team Denki, Buntan and Kyoho head out to rejoin Team Sarada and fight.
After waking up Boruto sees his eye in a mirror and believes that he has awakened the Byakugan. Naruto gets tired because of work so Shikamaru comes to drop him home only to find Boruto acting like the ninja movie's hero. Boruto tells everyone that he has awakened the Byakugan but Naruto says that he never trained enough to awaken the Byakugan.
Shikamaru reveals that Sasuke returned in critical condition and that he still doesn't trust Kawaki. However, Kawaki's arm reactivates, showing that Naruto is still alive and uses his Karma together with Boruto's to create a portal to Kara's dimension. Team 7 enters the portal while Kawaki reassures Shikamaru before entering as well.
Meanwhile, Konoha's Police Force and Team 7 arrive too late as Kawaki's prosthetic hand breaks off momentarily before functioning once again, proof that Naruto lost to Jigen but is still alive.
