No matter how you cut it(no pun intended) you are talking about 20-30 grams per orange. Might have to limit myself to only half an orange in the future. A large orange 3 1/16 dia is 21.6 - 4.4g fiber = 17.2 g sugar A small 2.5 inch dia. 9.0g sugar. They are high in vitamin C. I think I'm going to go with limes in the future.
At 65 net grams of carbs per day I am consuming 650 - 800 calories per day, which really isn't enough. I am a vegetarian though, which makes this a bit more tricky. For a meat eater it is easier, consume fish and lean meats and other good healthy sources of protein.
Clearly, reducing fat, per gram, gives you more bang for your buck if you are trying to lose weight. Reducing calories, or at least knowing how many calories you are eating, is very handy, if not necessary, for planning a weight loss diet. Prednisone side effects are fluid retention and increasing appetite. Both of these can cause weight gain.
Ross Wollen is a Senior Science Journalist at Diabetes Daily. Ross was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 36, and quickly became an active member of the diabetes online community.

A lot of people with diabetes delay going on insulin for as long as possible because they’ve heard horror stories about how much weight it can make them gain (or maybe they just don’t like shots or needles). Of course, people with type 1 don’t have a choice and have to use insulin to stay alive. Why is it then that using insulin usually causes weight gain, regardless of which type of ...
I’m confused. I have a diabetes coach who says if I’m eating 1800 calories a day (for my age, gender, activity level), I should get 200-225 of those calories from carbs. An online calorie to gram converter says that is only 29 grams of carbs a day. (Yet I read that one gram equals four calories, which would make 29 grams equal 116 calories).
Sugar free does not equal carb free. The Voortman sugar free cookies I looked looked at on Amazon had 17 carbs per 3 wafers. So I guess the real question is how many carbs can you handle in one setting and how much or how little are you willing to eat at one time. Your meter will tell you what will work for you. No foods are "off limits".
I love a good thumbprint or shortbread with my tea! One year I went quite mad and made 6 types of shortbread, including brown sugar. Light brown sugar. It was during the height of the at-home foodie craze and I used culinary lavender in another, one plain, another with orange and fresh thyme, black pepper, and lemon rosemary.
