I am trying to determine the occupant load from table 1004.1.1 for an indoor sports facility (Using the 2009 IBC). The facility will be a 180' x 300' (54,000 s.f.) clear span metal building used for indoor sports activities such as a soccer field. What "Floor Area Per Occupant" should I use...
I'm doing a commercial TI with a few half court basketball courts within an existing open space. I'm using an occupant load factor of 15sf per person, which gives me over 50 ppl per court (68 to be exact). This seems completely unrealistic, as there will only be 3 on 3 or sometimes 5 on 5 on these courts.
Goal now is to define indoor participant sports (BC507.4). §BC303.5 Assembly Group A-4 definition does not mention indoor participant sports. The indoor practice facility is for college sports. THANK YOU YIKES! That is exactly the information I needed. Thank you thank you. All the lights will be on portable dimmer packs, also mounted above the ceiling. I will look up what a road show panel is. All flat ceilings but that gives me the max height I can build my seating platforms. Thank you for the codes, I will look those up.
Similar uses to this would be aerobics rooms, basketball courts, gymnastics rooms. Exercise rooms that contain stationary bicycles, treadmills, stair steppers, free weights, weight machines, sit-up and stretching stations are counted at 50 gross square feet per occupant
Doing a plan review for a very large indoor waterpark. There is a open stair tower to the top of a water slide. Counting this stairway and landings it will has a 150' egress. The bottom of the stairway is on a mezzanine with stairs down to the first floor where there are exits. The closest exit...
