The Lakeview Hospital was organized in Danville in 1892, and the first patient was admitted in 1894. The same year, the Danville Training School for Nurses opened and was the only such training school in the area for 26 years. [1] The training initially lasted for two years; in 1901 this was increased to three years.
The addition of new stores brought occupancy levels up to 78 percent. [3] In September 2014, Sears announced that it would close the Village Mall store. [20] In mid-2015, a Jo-Ann Fabrics was added to the mall, while the city of Danville offered an incentive to the Slumberland Furniture chain to open a store in part of the former Sears. [21]

Danville Township is a township in Vermilion County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2010 census, its population was 32,113 and it contained 13,913 housing units. [ 2 ] Danville Area Community College and the Illinois Department Of Corrections Danville Correctional Facility are in this township.
It is a member of the Illinois Association of Christian Schools and American Association of Christian Schools. The school was founded in 1953 as an educational ministry of Danville's First Baptist Church. Its current divisions are elementary, which includes kindergarten through grade 6, and secondary, which includes grades 7 through 12. [1]
Prentice Women's Hospital is a member of Northwestern Medicine and serves as a teaching hospital for the Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. The hospital has 256 beds, with 86 AAP verified level III neonatal intensive care unit beds, 32 labor and delivery beds, 86 healthy bassinets, and 10 operating rooms. [ 2 ]
Danville was the site of a riot in 1903, which led to the lynching of a black man and an assault on the county jail. [25] The Danville Branch of the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers opened in 1898 and, by 1910, 4,257 veterans were at the branch. [26]
The school has two songs: a fight song and a cheer song. The cheer song's lyrics were borrowed from the cheer song written for Illinois Wesleyan University, substituting "Danville High" for "Wesleyan" and "maroon" for "green". [6] [18] The school claims no knowledge as to why the school colors were chosen, though they date to at least 1906. [6]
