Chad Channing (born January 31, 1967) is an American musician who is best known as the drummer of the rock band Nirvana from 1988 to 1990, during which time they recorded and released their debut album Bleach; he also appears on "Polly" in the follow-up album Nevermind. He currently sings and plays bass in the band Before Cars.
"Even to put 'About a Girl' on Bleach was a risk," he explained. "I was heavily into pop, I really liked R.E.M. , and I was into all kinds of old ‘60s stuff. But there was a lot of pressure within that social scene, the underground—like the kind of thing you get in high school.
