The upload has been at 7 episodes for over a week now, so hopefully they finish the whole series. I was pleasantly surprised they uploaded this, LOCH 94 and Crimson Sabre when there were other far more iconic 80s wuxia serials they could have put up instead - those have been rehashed so many times while the 90s serials are incredibly hard to find.

Been watching the 1979 TVB adaptation of CHOR LAU HEUNG starring Adam Cheng, and noted that this series makes frequent references to Japanese martial arts forms and the ninja arts, which is uncommon for most Chinese wuxia. Gu Long made much greater use of Japanese martial arts and even characters than Jin Yong ever did.
Many wuxia characters, including protagonists, aren't particularly impressive in physical build. They win fights because of their superior martial arts *skills*, not because they're built like Arnold Schwarzeneggar. Imagine Deun Yu or Cheung Mo Gei fighting without their martial arts skills.

There are basically two main hair styles in wuxia, one is "up" where the hair is tied up (YG in 83 and 95) and the other is "down", where the hair is hang loose (YG 2006).

If we're to include all female fighters in Wuxia, I would also throw in Yaoyue and Lianxing from Gu Long's Legendary Siblings. Also, the Water Matriarch Yin Ji from the Chu Luxiang series. They were all ridiculously powerful and probably would match Tong Lao and Li Qiushui.
In wuxia, almost all beauties of all wuxia novels are described as having skin as white as pearl. Where is dark skin beauty in wuxia? I wonder why pretty much all wuxia writers are obsessed with white but not dark skin beauty.
The problem with wuxia in English is that, as it's concerned, wuxia only exists as a film genre. Wuxia function far better in longer form works, but the TV shows and novels that do so are also the most difficult to bring to a different language. Ask most Western wuxia fans and I'd imagine that very few of them have even heard of Jin Yong and Gu ...
