In 1967, the institution was renamed the Central Police Training College (CPTC) to reflect its expanded role in police training across India. [3] In 1974, the academy was renamed to honor Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India's first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, in recognition of his contributions to establishing the All India Services. Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA), (Devanāgarī: राजस्थान पुलिस अकादमी) is the premier institute for the training of Rajasthan Police Service (RPS) officers and other Subordinate Police officers before they are sent to their respective districts to carry out their duties.

[1] Initially, the MIA was formed by merging the Special Protection Training Centre in Pune and the Special Branch Training Centre of Mumbai. [3]

Before the academy was built a small training centre at Lok Nayak Bhawan, New Delhi, conducted short-term in-service courses. The CBI then relied on state police-training institutions and the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad for basic training courses for deputy superintendents of police, sub-inspectors and constables.
