Description. The Act was first published in the Karnataka Gazette (Extraordinary) on 13 September 2001 to replace the then existing Karnataka State Universities Act, 1976. The Act was enacted with a view to increase the number of higher educational facilities in the state, and to create a common structure of administration over them.
In 1964, another training centre was established in Dharwad, Karnataka, again on property donated by the CSI church of Karnataka; and another center was established the same year in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. The centre's headquarters was moved to Peenya, Bangalore after the establishment of a toolroom and training center there in 1978.
The University Law College (ULC) is the only constituent college of law directly administered by the Bangalore University.
