11/16/23 - Purchased a 2006 GX 470 in Titanium Silver Metallic (1D4 color code) for $6,800. 188k mi. Bought in Baltimore, drove it back up home to Albany, NY. The drive home was great - engine and transmission felt superb. Slapped some dead NY plates from a previous car, put it on my insurance, and drove it back.
2006 GX470 with Bilstein 5100 in the front and 5125 in the rear. Factory springs on 3rd from the bottom perch on the struts. 895E springs in the back with Southern Style Offroad conversion without either of the 1/4" shim spacers (3/4" lift). 275/70-17 BFG AT K02 on factory wheels with 1.25" SpiderTrax spacers.

If you want a decade get the newest lower mileage 460 you can afford. The main benefit to gx470s is the entry price if you paying premium for low mileage to get one then it negates its main benefit. Choosing 460 with 100k miles at $20k-25k vs a 470 with 150k miles for $10-12k is an easy choice to save some serious cash.

The GX still feels like my favorite pair of jeans - totally dependable, extremely comfortable, and a little faded but still almost perfect for any occasion. Mine didn't need much work until 250K, but I have spent the cash from 250K to 280K - cv axles, wheel bearings, radiator, one exhaust manifold, shocks, 3rd timing belt, etc.

Nov 5, 2016. #5. I have the 2014 trail edition 4Runner rims on my GX with 285/70/17 Toyo AT2s and an Old Man Emu lift. I think the offset is 15mm and the rims 17x7.5. With stock upper control arms the tires don't rub on the body mount, but I have rubbing on the inner fender lining behind the front bumper.
