I'm not sure we're having such a big chunk of their sales as you think. If I'm looking at the RPI Imager stats, we're under 3% of the installations done through their tool.

If we can get that working this will load fine, I'm already playing with genuine wiimotes using my dolphinbar, which is all kinds of awesome on a Pi 5 RetroPie setup. Yes, but I had to remove xorg-server-legacy xserver-xorg-legacy first, seems that on Bullseye is buggy and prevents xinit from properly starting.
Everything runs great bar N64 atm with the 9.2 release on the site. If you have a patreon account you can get the latest beta where n64 runs better. They even have killer instint arcade version at full speed with Mame 2003.
RetroPie supports RPi5, but we don't have an iso image yet, because some things needs time to be 100% ready for a new image release. For now, you have to install manually RetroPie on top of Pi OS Bookworm Lite 64 bit.
The only option you have for now is to do a manual instillation on top of Raspberry PI OS Bookworm lite. But, if you can buy a Steamdeck then better choose this, is more stronger than a Pi5. `Please be patient, my English is not very good.`
RetroPie 4.7.1 images are now available from the Download Page. Unfortunately a couple of bugs crept into the EmulationStation front-end for the 4.7 release. The Pi 4 was released on June 24th, 2019. The first Retropie build wasn't until April 28th, 2020 so nearly a year, and that was also a beta build.
