Kelley and Edmunds are always high in their prices. NADA is what the dealers use. Now in add’s they will so much off Kelley or Edmunds. But if you check NADA that price will be right on NADA’s or real close. NADA numbers come from the auctions and dealer reports. They also used data from add’s.
They all use the Kelley Blue Book for used car values when trading iin your car or buying a used car. If used car values are higher in Edmunds it might be good for the seller if you can convince a buyer that is what the value is. Every library where I live carries the Kelley Blue Book that the dealers use. If you are buying a car whether from a ...
Kelly Blue Book is, according to my buddy (a former car salesman) “totally bogus”. A “good deal” is 10% below LOW bluebook. But remember, dealers buy cars at auction, for THOUSANDS of dollars below low bluebook - in some cases, buying a “Lot” or group of, say, ten cars for $8,000!
Usually Kelley and Edmunds have identical invoice prices. Kelley gets confusing because they include destination and minimum required equipment in their invoice number while Edmunds considers the correct number to be the base invoice price that a manufacturer charges a franchised dealer.
As for the actual numbers, it's kind of hard for a consumer to know what a good settlement is because most price guides, like the Blue Book, don't give values for 2004 "used" cars. Also, what is the best way to figure out a fair price? Is Kelly Blue Book reliable? I noticed that their values are much higher than Edmunds. Some of the cars I have looked at have many options. Do those ...
Thanks, I’ll look into finding older blue books. Anyone out there have a 2005 Blue Book and can look up the value of a '93 Subaru Impreza, AWD, sedan, good condition, about 120,000 miles on it at the time. Also had a CD player installed, and electric windows. Don’t think there were any other bells and whistles.
Relying on Kelly Blue Book to determine whether or not you're getting a good deal at a car dealership is a dire mistake. The Kelly Blue Book accuracy on private party transactions are much, much greater. If anybody is curious why Kelly Blue Book is so inaccurate I would be happy to explain.
Oh that's Kelley. those are dealer asking prices for very clean cars, which yours isn't, so...deduct accordingly. Can't say what repairs will cost. I'd have to see photos of the damage, and also price out a used bumper (which may need painting as well). For all this hassle, this car better be cheap.
This book give an excellent introduction to buying a car in Canada and gives a % figure on the markup for new cars or trucks. I believe the company that writes Lemon Aid is the affiliated with the Canadian APA(where you can get invoice prices from). The book is a good value for about $25 canadian. ex.
