James Lick (August 25, 1796 – October 1, 1876) was an American real estate investor, carpenter, piano builder, land baron, and patron of the sciences. The wealthiest man in California at the time of his death, Lick left the majority of his estate to social and scientific causes.
At the Incarnate Word High School San Antonio, Texas classes run on a modular schedule. Each day is broken down into 17 time-periods called "mods." Mods are 20 minutes long, except the lunch mods, which are 26 minutes. The schedule is on a two-week cycle. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – A petition created by a local school community is calling for the removal of a newly appointed staff member who has a controversial past concerning transgender students.
The school was named for James Lick (1796–1876), benefactor of the Lick Observatory on Mount Hamilton, 17 miles (27 km) east. It was the first of 11 comprehensive, traditional high schools in the East Side Union High School District, and it quickly became the standard for educational quality in the emerging district.
