YMMV based on jurisdiction. Also, this boot had been loosely installed so I was able to remove it by removing the steering linkages and wheel. YMMV based on the ability not to damage the boot. Private boots are illegal in Washington state. It’s a five thousand dollar fine.

Need advice on car boot. My car got booted on the 26th, and I immediately called to see if there was a payment plan option (which there wasn’t) and even on that call asked if I would get MORE tickets, since the place it was booted is $4 an hour for parking which I could not afford for 2 days (I knew I wouldn’t be able to get the boot off ...
Not necessarily dangerous. But it will have to be fixed at some point. Like the other person said, clicking when turning is generally the sign the axle is failing. Or if you run it long enough, the car will slightly “shudder” upon accelerating. Current car had a torn boot when I bought it.
And you cant boot on the property if you own it, you have to hire a booting co. But in a suburb the answer i would say is yes. You boot the car in your driveway because they are trespassing. Then charge them 100 to buy the car back from you or call the police to arrest them and tow the car. Thats my best guess.
I called him and got a boot and when they would park in our spaces, I'd walk out and boot them. Then I'd call my friend and they'd come and drive the car away. $50 cash to unboot, or $150 to remove from impound. I'd leave a note on the car to come to my unit to unboot or it would be towed within the hour.
Ive got a 2015 Skoda Superb Se Tdi Estate, and the boot has suddenly decided to stop working. It's an electric lock with no manual opening method (i.e. key lock) and even though the central locking is open the boot will not open. When you press the release handle, the electric mechanism doesn't kick in at all...it's like it is 100% dead.
hypothetically if i cut a car boot from a private company, on private properties, how much trouble am i in? I parked in an apartment complex visiting a friend, came out to find my car was booted, it was a very cheap boot, the company is the same one that does the predatory booting all over plaza midwood and university area.
east ryde scouts run a car boot sale a couple of times a year. You can also give away stuff through free stuff groups on Facebook. It’s absolutely amazing the junk that other people will pick up. This applies to stuff that you can’t sell for money (or can’t be arsed to sell for money).
If that was possible, then everyone who could afford one would buy one, and the parking boots would then be unlocked by 'the culprits' and probably thrown away, so suddenly they would no longer have a deterrent affect. Seems to me the authorities, or the companies working on their behalf, wouldn't be too pleased about that. :-) 4. Award. [deleted]
