The Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation is a federally recognized tribe [1] of Serrano people in San Bernardino County, California. [2][3] They are made up of the Yuhaviatam clan of Serrano people, who have historically lived in the San Bernardino Mountains. [4] The tribe was formerly named the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians.
The tribe came to public attention in 1987 when they won California v.Cabazon Band; prior to the U.S.Supreme Court's decision 480 U.S. 202 (1987), the tribe had been the subject of public attention, given claims about events involving John Philip Nichols, The Wackenhut Corporation, and the June 29, 1981 triple homicides of Alfred "Fred" Alvarez, Patricia Castro, and Ralph Boger.
The portion of the Twenty-Nine Palms Reservation (33°42′38″N 116°11′12″W) in San Bernardino County was established in 1895 and occupies 402 acres (163 ha). [2] It is held annually on the fourth weekend in April, on the Powwow Grounds at Expo NM, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Over 565 tribes from around the United States and 220 from Canada travel to Albuquerque to participate.

The Black Lodge Singers of White Swan, Washington are a Native American northern drum group led by Kenny ScabbyRobe, of the Blackfeet Nation. The Black Lodge Singers are largely drawn from his twelve sons. They have released twenty albums for Canyon Records, including two albums of pow wow songs for children.
