A true weevil. The Curculionidae are a family of weevils, commonly called snout beetles or true weevils.They are one of the largest animal families with 6,800 genera and 83,000 [1] species described worldwide.
Because so many species exist in such diversity, the higher classification of weevils is in a state of flux. They are generally divided into two major divisions, the Orthoceri or primitive weevils, and the Gonatoceri or true weevils (Curculionidae).
