Hello all. I'll say right off, I'm a lifelong creek/small river/small lake type fisherman. I know how to fish them, can read them, and even on a new body of water I can usually do ok. But the Truman Tailwater is a challenge I'm trying to take on with let's say mixed success. I'll say right off I'm pretty much limited to bank fishing.
This isn't really only smallmouth fishing but I couldn't find a topic page for the Osage River so here it is. I went out on the Osage yesterday with my girlfriend and our kitten. I had been out on the river a handful of times this summer and had some successful trips but never one like I had yesterday. Earlier this summer I caught my PB Ozark ...
During winter Nov - Jan go downstream to mouth of Osage where it empties into the Missouri River. Fish the seam where the clear water of Osage meets dirty water of Missouri. Bounce or cast and jig 1/4 - 3/8 oz Bink's spoons or give some plastic sassy shads a try. You can catch up to 12 lb hybrids doing that.

Close to golfing, shopping and fine dining. You fishermen must note that the Osage River is famous for the best fishing around and there is a boat ramp across the street. Bagnell darn is located upstream a few miles by boat and 15 minutes by land. Great fishing, floating, canoeing and just playing on the Osage River. The eagles live here year ...
The fishing is HOT below the darn right now. I went out on Saturday and caught 100+ crappie on minnows with a limit of nice 8-10 inch fish. Switched over to cats are dark and limited out on them also (except for the flatheads). I'm using a boat and running up to the dam. Fishing was good with the...
Thursday was awesome day of fishing for catfish below Bagnell Dam. The parents and I kept 11 blues and 3 channels after we were finished. My step mom landed a 25 pound blue cat for her second fish of the day and I got a 9.5 and a 12 pound blue. Crappie fishing was hot as well, but we had too much...
Hey folks I finally got the boat I've been dreaming about for years and now I'm going to return to the lower Osage where I grew up. I had to move away from the area in 1993 because of my job. I used to fish the area from the Lock and Dam to the mouth of the Osage. I used to target the sauger and walleye.
Also, you might want to add a small stinger treble tied to the hook of the jig on about a 2-3 inch mono. We used to use this rig to fish for sauger and walleye at the mouth of the Osage where it empties into the Missouri, and deep holes on up the Osage. With this method you drift, normally over the deepest holes you can find.
For the last couple of weeks I have been fishing below the dam at Warsaw. The crappie and whites are doing really good right now. The crappie bite is best approximately 30 minutes before dark. But if you have fished below the dam you also will know that with good fishing also comes BIG CROWDS. The whites are off and on all day long.
