Snowboarding is a sport at the Winter Olympic Games.It was first included in the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. [1] Snowboarding was one of five new sports or disciplines added to the Winter Olympic program between 1992 and 2002, and was the only one not to have been a previous medal or demonstration event. [2]
In July 2018, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) officially added the mixed team snowboard cross event to the Olympic program, increasing the total number of events to 11. [2] [3] A total of 238 quota spots were distributed to the sport of snowboarding, a decline of 20 from the 2018 Winter Olympics. [4]
The men's snowboard cross competition in snowboarding at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 10 February, at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou. [1] Alessandro Hämmerle of Austria became the champion. Éliot Grondin of Canada won the silver medal, and Omar Visintin of Italy the bronze. For all of them, this was the first Olympic medal.
