Many states are "at will" for employment, and thisi s more common. Right to work, on the other hand is more insidious since it breaks the backs of unions and removes a major source of their power (since unions cannot negotiate to have closed workplaces), and "Right to Work" tends to go hand-in-hand with "red" states. I think right to work is wrong.

If they are not productive, all states are employment at will, and yes, managers can fire accordingly. I come from a closed shop state, have been treated ten times better in a RTW state, but its simply due to a more hospitable work environment and living environment. In both states, being a key to the corps profitability is critical.

All I know about "Right to Work" is simply that an employee has the "right" to work in a union shop without being part of that union. One of the real negatives in right-to-work states is conflict between union members and the permanent scabs. Makes it hard to promote teamwork within a plant. I believe a union should be like an HOA, either everyone is in or out.
