(No heat) Then place another pan on top, metal to meat, metal on both sides of the package draws and dissipates the cold super fast.

    Nope, it wasn't a seal problem. There is a vacuum activated electrical switch inside the unit that decides when the vacuum is tight enough and turns on the heating element to seal the bag. That vacuum switch went out and I couldn't get any help or parts from Food Saver. Their answer was, "It's broke, go buy a new one.".

    Vacuum Sealer reviews/recommendations. So the old food saver 750 finally gave up the ghost. We have a food saver big game model capable of 12v sealing we use on the road, it is OK at best. We process 3-6 deer a year along with a good deal of fish and small game. I am looking at two units.

Never needed a saw, one option is a chest freezer, a temp controller and small generator the Honda 2000w or even some of the knock offs are very quite. 1/4 the deer and hang in the chest freezer cool to ~35°, if it gets cool at night you may be able to shut the generator off.

I dropped one off tonight to him. my first ever deer for him to process . He makes all of his own sausages in house. $75 to process and sausage was 15-20 bucks.

    W B is right, as long as all the airs out, thats the key to freezing meat. I butcher deer every year, and have had venison for 2 years in freezer without a problem.

    481 posts · Joined 2003. #6 · Dec 27, 2004. Try "flash freezing" them flat on a cookie sheet. As soon as they stiffen up, vacuum pack them and keep them in the freezer til you need them. We preserve suckers, smelt, shiners, shad, etc. that way and take them to Canada. Very effective on pike.

It's probably no secret that I prefer handlining for walleye, and along with pencil plugs, spoons, Rabble Rousers, Bobmber Long As, and others, I use Original Floating Rapalas, which I like the best. Embarrassingly to say, I'm sure I have over 500 in various sizes, many being custom painted.

    Hot hubs/bearings create a vacuum when backed into water. Even if a Buddy is sealed well ,the rear seal may allow water infiltration. A bearing sitting on water over a season of storage can become pitted. A pitted bearing grinding against a hubs race will not have a happy outcome. Nothing against Buddies. Run em if ya gottem.
