Stanford had a post office from circa 1898 to 1901, a sawmill on the creek that lay about a mile south of the town, and a school on a site of 0.5 acres (2,000 m 2) directly across from the post office. The school existed from approximately 1890 until 1945, when it was converted into a private residence.
