The landforms of British Columbia include two major continental landforms, the Interior Plains in the province's northeast, the British Columbia portion of which is part of the Alberta Plateau. The rest of the province is part of the Western Cordillera of North America , often referred to in Canada as the Pacific Cordillera or Canadian Cordillera.
Regional districts came into being via an order of government in 1965 with the enactment of amendments to the Municipal Act. [1] Until the creation of regional districts, the only local form of government in British Columbia were incorporated municipalities, and services in areas outside municipal boundaries had to be sought from the province or through improvement districts.
The North Shore handles more than 40% of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority's international trade exports. [1] In addition, CN controls a less-used former BC Rail line north to Prince George, British Columbia. The judicial districts of the British Columbia Supreme Court have the same boundaries of the counties of the former county court. That is the only use of county in the British Columbian government, which is a reference only to such court districts and has no similarity to the meaning in the other provinces of Canada or elsewhere. Big Snow is set 16 km (9.9 mi) south-southeast of Bella Coola and 430 km (270 mi) northwest of Vancouver. Precipitation runoff and glacier meltwater from Big Snow drains to Thorsen Creek → Bella Coola River → North Bentinck Arm, and to South Bentinck Arm via Brynildsen Creek → Smitley River → Noeick River.
