The college was governed by the State Board of Education until July 1, 1976, when it was placed under the Control of the Kansas Board of Regents. The college became the seventh college under control of the Board of Regents. The name was changed in 1988 to "Kansas College of Technology."
It offers degree programs in the fields of engineering technology and aviation, consisting of associate and bachelor's degrees as well as a Professional Master of Technology program. Approximately 1,000 students are enrolled at the Salina campus. About 85 percent of the student body comes from Kansas and 80 percent attends on a full-time basis.
