The Texas Library Association (TLA) is a charitable non-profit group that promotes libraries in Texas. It was founded on June 9, 1902. [ 1 ] TLA is affiliated with the American Library Association (ALA) and has more than 6,000 members made up of librarians and library workers from academic, public, school and special libraries.

Lebanon was the name of two different communities that were founded in Texas in the 19th century, neither of which exist today. The first was a town located in Collin County that had a post office designated as Lebanon, Texas , before it was relocated to Frisco .

Today 13 of these buildings survive, with 10 listed on the National Register of Historic Places. They were often designed by the leading Texas architects of the day. For example, the now-demolished main libraries in Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio were works by James Riely Gordon, the master architect of county courthouses.

The El Paso Public Library is the longest continuously active public library system in Texas. [2] It was founded by Mary Irene Stanton, an El Paso area teacher. [3] Stanton "single-handedly becomes founder of the El Paso Public Library" when in 1894, she donated her personal collection of 1,000 books for a boy's Reading Club which was housed in a room in the Sheldon Building.
