Laurence Stephen Lowry RBA RA (/ ˈ l aʊ r i / LAO-ree; 1 November 1887 – 23 February 1976) was an English artist.His drawings and paintings mainly depict Pendlebury, Greater Manchester (where he lived and worked for more than 40 years) as well as Salford and its vicinity.

Industrial Landscape is the title given to each of a series of oil paintings by the English artist L. S. Lowry, painted over a number of years between 1934 and 1955.. Each picture is in the form of a landscape painting, in which the traditional elements of natural beauty have been supplanted with factories, chimneys, bridges and other elements of an industrial city environment.
Initially Lowry didn't attend college; she got married, raised children, and worked as a hairdresser. She also took photographs at weddings and community events. She settled in her father's hometown of Susanville, California. Eventually, in her thirties Lowry did go back to school, and attended Humboldt State University. [3]
She was to write extensively about Lowry, including her book A private view of L.S. Lowry (revised as L.S. Lowry: A Biography), and won the Portico Prize for literary excellence in 2002 with another book, The Lowry Lexicon: An A-Z of L.S. Lowry. However, she was not monomaniacal and went on to do A-Z of Van Gogh.
Isherwood was a friend of the artist L. S. Lowry, who purchased his Woman with Black Cat and displayed it at his home. [2] A BBC documentary, I am Isherwood was made in 1974 about the artist and his work. This was transmitted twice by the BBC, once in 1974 and again in 1975. [3] Isherwood died in 1989. [1]
