Twin Lake is an unincorporated community in Muskegon County of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is a census-designated place (CDP) for statistical purposes. Local government services are provided by Dalton Township, though the Twin Lake ZIP code serves parts of neighboring townships. As of the 2020 census, the population of the CDP was 2,056. [2]
The township is in central Muskegon County, north of Muskegon, the county seat, and southeast of Whitehall. U.S. Route 31 crosses the township from northwest to south as a four-lane freeway, with access from Exits 118, 121, and 126. State highway M-120 crosses the east side of the township, passing through the community of Twin Lake.
Muskegon Mall construction began in 1974, and the mall opened for business on March 27, 1976. [3] Created by enclosing three blocks of Western Avenue and building a department store at each end - Sears at one end, and Grand Rapids-based Steketee's at the other - the mall also resulted in the closure of parts of First, Second, and Jefferson streets.
