The channel was first tested on December 1, 1977, as an experimental local channel in Columbus, Ohio. On April 1, 1979, the channel expanded into a national network named Nickelodeon.
The guys who had made the Nickelodeon logo were suddenly in demand, and they went on to create imagery for Comedy Central, Cartoon Network, FX and more.
