On 31 January 2018, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, inaugurated Khelo India School Games at the opening ceremony based on Guru–shishya tradition held at Indira Gandhi Arena. [2] [3] from the 2019 events, Khelo India School Games were renamed to Khelo India Youth Games after Indian Olympic Association came on board earlier in September 2018. [4]

The inaugural 2023 Khelo India Para Games will be held from 10 to 17 December 2023. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] There will be more than 1350 athletes from across the country, competing in athletics, shooting, archery, football, badminton, table tennis and weightlifting. [ 3 ]

The Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, also known as Balewadi Stadium, is a sports complex located in Pune, India. [5] The complex is situated about 15 km from downtown Pune and 5 km from Hinjawadi. This complex was a venue for the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games, [6] Khelo India Youth Games in 2019 [7] and AFC Women's Asian Cup. [8]
