The Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000 (asp 4) is an act of the Scottish Parliament.It was passed on 29 March 2000, receiving royal assent on 9 May. [3] It concerns the welfare of adults (the age of legal capacity in Scotland being 16) who are unable to make decisions for themselves because they have a mental disorder or are not able to communicate.

In situations where an adult is infirm, elderly or has other learning/social difficulties, the adult's capacity to transact may be affected as a consequence and they may be considered incapax, now termed an adult with incapacity under the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000.

The Access to Health Records Act 1990 (c. 23) is an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom which applies to people in England, Wales and Scotland.
