The Super Liga is an association football league that is the top division of Moldovan football league system. The competition was established in 1992, when Moldova became independent from the Soviet Union. It was formed in place of former Soviet republican competitions that existed since 1945.
In case both teams are from the same division, the team ranked higher in the current league season will play their tie away. Home advantage for the round of 16 is granted to the team from the Super Liga.
