St. John Chaldean Catholic Church is a Chaldean Catholic church located in El Cajon, California, United States. It is the third Chaldean parish in San Diego, serving the Eparchy of St. Peter the Apostle. The church building was originally owned by a non-Catholic Christian denomination before being acquired by the Eparchy. [1]

St. Peter Chaldean Catholic parish was established in 1973 with Father Peter Kattoula as its first pastor. [2] The present church building was completed in 1983 and dedicated on September 10 of that year. It has a seating capacity of 600 people. [3] The church hall was opened on November 29, 1989.

In 2005, St. Paul's held the funeral service for a gay Catholic man, John McCusker, who was denied a funeral by the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego. [10] St. Paul's fields one of the biggest groups marching in the annual San Diego Gay Pride Parade, and in 2010 received the Stonewall Service Award from the San Diego Gay Pride organization. [11]
