Theme Park Studio is an amusement park simulator game developed by Pantera Entertainment. [1] The project began seeking funding on Kickstarter in 2013 and has been released in phases since February 2014. [2] It allows users to design and build their own theme parks featuring roller coasters and flat rides; similar to RollerCoaster Tycoon 3.
The "Simulator" allows the designed roller coaster to be viewed in full 3D, either riding the roller coaster like a rider, or watching it in a third person perspective, from a fixed position or behind the roller coaster train. 3D acceleration is provided by OpenGL. It is also possible to view technical information, such as "speed" and "G-forces".
In addition, there are ten roller coasters per type. Coasters can be built freeform or the player can place pre-made designs into their park. [5] Unlike in the previous games, the roller coaster train may fly off the tracks if the roller coaster is built incorrectly. As a result, a new "safety-rating" option and medical staff has been added.
The free Anniversary update included several new rides and roller coasters in addition to picnic benches and a custom scenario editor - other smaller features allow for interchangeable coaster cars and relaxed track restrictions. More management features were also introduced including more control over vendors and staff rooms for tired employees.
