The Virginia Air and Space Science Center is a museum and educational facility in Hampton, Virginia that also serves as the visitors center for NASA's Langley Research Center and Langley Air Force Base. The museum also features an IMAX digital theater [2] and offers summer aeronautic- and space-themed camps for children. [3]
In 1994, the museum was accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. On March 31, 2007, the new museum facility was opened at its current location. In 2010, the museum was re-accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, a high honor as fewer than 5% of the museums in America receive re-accreditation.
In 2014 the museum upgraded its five-story theater, The Dome, with a new digital projection system. In 2016 the museum opened a new permanent exhibition, Speed, with an SR-71 Blackbird suspended from the ceiling. The Blackbird was relocated from the Virginia Aviation Museum near the Richmond International Airport. [4]

On June 14, 2008, the museum was renamed "Children's Museum of Phoenix" and opened its doors to the public in the newly remodeled historic (NRHP) Monroe School building where it is currently located.
