La Maternelle (1904; "The Kindergarten") is a Prix Goncourt winning novel by French author Léon Frapié.It was adapted to film as La Maternelle (1933). It is a kind of autobiographical novel by proxy since its author used not his own memories, but those of his wife, Leonie Mouillefert, whom he married in 1888.
The Old Hall Hotel is a public house and restaurant in High Street, Sandbach, Cheshire, England. It was built in 1656 on the site of a previous manor house, and since been extended. In the 18th century it was used as a coaching inn and hotel. It closed as a hotel in 2005; it was unused for four years, and its fabric suffered serious deterioration.

La Maternelle (International title: Children of Montmartre) is a 1933 French film directed and written by Jean Benoît-Lévy and Marie Epstein. It was adapted from Léon Frapié's Prix Goncourt winning novel La Maternelle (1904). [1] This film was a remake of a less successful, silent version made in 1925 by Gaston Roudès. [2]

The original parish church was St Mary's Church, Sandbach but this became part of the Church of England after the Reformation]. After this event there is very little Catholic history mentioned for many years, the family which owned the Old Hall Hotel, Sandbach did however harbour Catholic priests with Priest holes .
