Greatest Hits is a compilation album by the American rock band Journey, originally released in 1988 by Columbia Records. [3] It is the band's best-selling career disc, spending 842 weeks on the Billboard 200 albums chart (more than any other compilation album, except for Bob Marley and the Wailers ' Legend , in history). [ 4 ]
It contains songs from the studio albums Infinity (1978) through Frontiers (1983). The album peaked at No. 79 on the US Billboard 200 chart. [2] The songs recorded in 1981 would later be released on Live in Houston 1981: The Escape Tour, featuring the full concert, in 2005. The full concert from 1983 remains unreleased as of 2023.
The album was successful, partly due to the Strange Medicine world tour. [citation needed] Journey's classic 1981–85 lineup reunited in 1996 to record Trial by Fire. The album was a huge success, entering the Billboard charts at No. 3 and going platinum before year's end, but its triumph was short-lived.

At this point the man at the jukebox is revealed to actually be lead singer Steve Perry who turns and smiles at the camera. Another video exists which is a live performance during the Departure Tour. Both videos were omitted from the band's Greatest Hits 1978–1997 DVD in favor of another live version of the song from the Escape Tour.
