Yesterday I went to a local supplier, Pottstown Roller Mill, and bought two tons of nut coal. No price drop this year I suppose, as it was $440 a ton and $45 delivery cost. We can argue about why coal is so expensive, but I have to believe Uncle Sam is happy to make coal an uneconomical choice.

The price in Delaware went up to $6.99 a bag, and the pallets I bought last year the bags had quite a bit of water, and had more shale than rice coal. Not only that, they weren't getting more than one pallet of rice coal per heating season or maybe two if they were lucky.
Meadowbrook has the best price. Their coal is actually $170/ton, whereas the other two places charge a liitle over $200/ton. I was planning on picking it up myself to save a few bucks. Is there a big differenc ein quality from one place to another? I didn't ask what type of coal they each sell and they didn't say when I was asking for prices.
