2024 Personnel – Alpha Fire Company. Alpha’s Members are separated into a few general categories, including Firefighters, Fire Police, and Line Officers. Officers have various unique responsibilities that vary from officer to officer.
The Alpha Fire Company is an all-volunteer company with over 100 active members dedicated to providing professional fire, rescue and emergency support services throughout the Centre region. Our primary headquarters is in downtown State College, with stations in both Patton and College Townships.
Alpha Fire Company Main Station. Dedicated in 1974, the main station is located in Downtown State College at 400 West Beaver Avenue, on the corner of Beaver Avenue and Atherton Street. Its location allows for quick responses throughout the Centre Region and neighboring areas.

Our Fire Police ensure that the scene of an incident remains safe for firefighters, emergency service workers, and members of the public by performing traffic and crowd control. They secure firefighting equipment at scenes and the three fire stations.
Every member shall participate in at least 30 hours of approved training each year to meet the minimum requirements for membership. Of the 30 hours, 15 must be from in-house company-wide training. This does not include certification/re-certification classes offered for the Alpha Fire Company.
