The Registry of Vital Records (RVRS) preserves Massachusetts vital records for documentation and research. You can request certified copies of birth, death, marriage, and divorce records that are open to the public.
RVRS collects, manages, and tracks millions of vital records in Massachusetts from 1931 to the present. RVRS also provides statistics on births, deaths, fetal deaths, divorces, and marriages. These data sets are used to help understand our population, promote wellness, and ensure health equity within the Commonwealth.
You can get a copy of a birth certificate for anyone who was born at a hospital or home in Boston, or whose parents listed Boston as their residence at the time of the birth.
