For the 2015 season, the band was expanded to include an additional 60-member marching ensemble, "State Storm." [3] In addition to playing alongside the Varsity Band during football games at Jack Trice Stadium, State Storm is the athletic pep band for Iowa State University soccer, wrestling, and gymnastics.
Iowa State first put together a women's gymnastic team in time for the 1973-1974 season, Char Christiansen lead that squad. Christiansen led the Cyclones to their first Big Eight Conference title in 1975. [2] The Cyclones had limited success through most of the late 1970s and 1980s.

Iowa State's Maintenance Shop turned 50 this month. The iconic club and performance space at the Memorial Union has hosted music legends and beloved theatrical productions.
Iowa State fielded baseball as an official sports team from 1892 until the conclusion of the 2000–2001 season. Iowa State discontinued baseball due to budget constraints, but it remains as a club sport. Iowa State had a 1,346–1,412–17 all-time record including a 7–6 NCAA tournament record and two appearances in the College World Series.
