The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Agriculture (Pashto: د کرنې رياست خیبر پښتونخوا, (Urdu; محکمہ زراعت خیبر پختونخوا) is charged with administering agricultural programs in the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a mountainous region in the northern part of the country.
The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa functions under the provisions of the Constitution of Pakistan (1973). The Province has a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly with 145 elected members, constituent of 115 Regular seats, 26 seats reserved for women and 4 seats for non-Muslims.
The department was created on August 14, 1973. This department's main purpose is to create jobs, promote Industrial growth, encourage sustainable development and improve standards of living for all citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The department is currently headed by Secretary Sajjid Khan.
In a cabinet meeting, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Governments (Property Lease) Rules, 2024 was announced, extending the lease period of new "large-scale investments" of up to 90-years, this development has taken place while the Local Government department is under Arshad Ayub Khan. [6]
