"The Cheater" is a song written by John Krenski, and performed by Bob Kuban and the In-Men that was released in October 1965. The band's lead singer Walter Scott received billing on the recording ("Vocal by Walter Scott"), which was produced by Mel Friedman. It features on their 1966 album Look Out for the Cheater.
Scott found fame with Bob Kuban and The In-Men in 1966 with his lead vocals on the song "The Cheater". "The Cheater" spent eleven weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 12 on 12–19 March 1966. [2] Scott left the group soon after to attempt a solo career. When this failed, Scott began touring with a cover band during the 1970s. [3]
Kuban was born in St. Louis, Missouri, United States on August 19, 1940. [1] [2] He graduated from the St. Louis Institute of Music. In the early 1960s, Kuban was a music teacher and band director at Bishop DuBourg High School, a Catholic secondary school in St. Louis. In 1964, he formed the group Bob Kuban and The In-Men. [1]
